Senior Vice President

Saima Anjam is an experienced organizer and brings a long history of social justice advocacy shaping policies in New York to protect the state’s most vulnerable residents.

At the Parkside Group, Saima represents labor, environmental, civil rights, and other progressive groups seeking to create a fairer New York. She has won passage of critical legislation that improves the lives of thousands of working people by ensuring better wages and safer working conditions, as well as protecting all people against sexual coercion, among other major victories. Saima also uses her expertise on environmental and energy policy to help companies seeking to navigate the state’s new climate law.

Prior to joining our firm, she spent more than a decade in non-profit advocacy, including serving as Senior Director of Advocacy for the New York Immigration Coalition, where she helped direct advocacy campaigns in support of driver license equity and in support of expanding funding for legal services and access to health care. Prior to joining the NYIC, she served as Director of Public Policy for the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and spent a decade shaping environmental policy at two of New York’s leading environmental organizations: Environmental Advocates of New York and the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG).

In recognition for her work, Saima was named to the Women’s Power 100, the Power of Diversity: Asian 100, the Responsibility 100, and 40 Under 40 by City & State. She has also given back to the community through her previous service on the boards of Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood, Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic, and American Muslim Health Professionals. She also taught English as a Second Language for Literacy at New York’s Office of New Americans.
